Oracle AI Database 23.26.0 Free multi-platform images are now available on container registries docker.io/gvenzl/oracle-free and ghcr.io/gvenzl/oracle-free. With this release, 23.8 images have now gone into Unsupported. See the support matrix for more information.
This release also introduces a version scheme change because Oracle changed the versioning of the database from
<major release>.<release update>.<release update revision>.<release update (revision) year>.<release update (revision) month>
to
<major release>.<release update year>.<release update quarter>.<monthly recommended ru>.<recut release>
Before the name change, a release, for example, 23.9, was fully qualified as 23.9.0.25.07. Because the RURs were not applicable for Oracle Database Free and the release year and month were irrelevant, images shipped with tags such as gvenzl/oracle-free:23.9-slim.
However, now that the third digit has meaning again (we expect a 23.26.1 to come next), the image versions had to change accordingly. Hence, the new images ship with three version digits instead of two, e.g., gvenzl/oracle-free:23.26.0-slim.
Of course, the major version tags, e.g., gvenzl/oracle-free:23-slim remain as well and always point to the latest, now 23.26.0.
